High Moor Cottage

A delightfully situated smallholding in the heart of the Eden Valley

High Moor Cottage is a delightfully situated smallholding in Cumbria, at the heart of the Eden Valley. The Eden Valley is an unspoilt area of outstanding natural beauty nestling between the Pennine mountains and the Lake District. It offers the ideal base for walkers as well as those just wanting to get away from it all! We are walking distance from the Pennines and ½ hour drive to the Lake District, with the Historic Market Town of Appleby 5 minutes away by car or 15 minutes by foot.

Situated 1 mile from any main road, the cottage provides a tranquil and quiet atmosphere with a large number of resident red squirrels which you are guaranteed to see! The cottage provides ample parking and Brampton village is at the end of our lane with an exellent public house which serves home cooked local produce as well as brewing its own beer.

Appleby with all its local history is very accessible and we offer a free pick up and drop off service between the cottage and Appleby Railway Station (also at night if you fancy a few drinks “down town” ).

The cottage is centrally heated and recently renovated in 2007. It has new furniture throughout and remote control TV, freeview, hi-fi stereo, hairdryer and radio alarms. There are two separate bedrooms with double beds and one living / bedroom with a very comfortable king size sofa bed. It also offers a spacious living room with a real wood-burning stove. The Kitchen has all brand new appliances- gas hob, electric cooker, dishwasher, washing machine, kettle, toaster and microwave.

We are family friendly, with a 5-year-old girl of our own, there is a full size trampoline on site. Bike hire can be arranged and ready for you when you arrive, and we have a travel cot and high chair available on request. Appleby has a 25 meter heated indoor swimming pool along with a large leisure centre for indoor sports. There is horse riding and go-carting nearby and if you’re into climbing we can advise you on the local cliffs. There are climbing walls at Penrith and Kendal.

Cumbria is fast becoming THE place for cycling. From beginners to club cyclists, the Eden Valley is the perfect place to bring the bike. Again we can advise on the best routes (Maybe have a spin out together!!).

High Moor is the perfect place for the family, just open the front door and let the kids enjoy themselves in the fresh country air, 1 mile away from anyone or any traffic! There is also a play station 2 for those rainy days!
